Wilshere has been in the headlines recently due to his exclusion from Gareth Southgate's squad for the World Cup, which has come to a shock for many. The Arsenal man is widely regarded as one of England's best options in midfield, however he was not even included in the standby list to travel to Russia with the English national side.
The 26-year-old has made 38 appearances for the 'Gunners' this season, however he has not done enough to impress the England boss, and will be watching the World Cup in HD from the comfort of his living room.
According to pundit Danny Mills, Wilshere needs to look at a move away from Arsenal to reach his potential. The Englishman had previously been loaned out to Bournemouth for a season, which some people saw as the beginning of the end of his Arsenal career, and he will be out of contract at the end of June.
"He's a fabulous talent, an exceptional player, when he is fit," Mills said, speaking with 'Sky Sports'. "He needs to be at a club where he plays week in, week out."
"Sometimes you change clubs and it just works, for whatever reason it fits. That hasn't quite happened for him at Arsenal. Why is he constantly picking up these injuries?"
"I think he needs a move and a fresh challenge. But undoubtedly he's a fantastic talent."
The pundit also had his say on the situaiton at Arsenal, saying that the priority for whoever comes in to replace Arsene Wenger is suring up the defence.
"They've got to sort that defence out and a holding midfield player," Mills said.
"Going forward Arsenal can be exceptional. They can be one of the best teams to watch, play some glorious football and have an abundance of talent in that position with [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang and [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan coming in [in January].
"That's not an issue but defensively they've really got to the right people in and get organised. That will give them a chance."
