Real Madrid's number 7 has learnt to adapt his game as the years have gone by, cutting down on his endless running to become more of a killer in the box. He has scored 75.75% of his goals this season from his new comfort zone, the penalty area.
Although this season didn't start on a good foot for Ronaldo, with many people claiming his days were numbered, the Madrid forward has turned it around in 2018, becoming a real danger-man in the box.
Furthermore, this change is illusrated by the amount of goals that the Portuguese international has scored with his first touch this season. It is undisputable that Ronaldo has become the king in this regard. So far this season, he has managed to punish his opponents with his first touch on 17 of the 25 occasions where he has scored. A perfect example is the big goal he bagged against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in Real's Champions League second leg.
As confirmation of his good form, Ronaldo sits third in the table for this year's 'Pichichi' (the Spanish equivalent of the Golden Boot), six goals behind Lionel Messi, who is top with 24. His brace against Eibar on Saturday took his tally in La Liga up to 18 for the season.
There is no doubt that Real Madrid need their star for the crunch moments of the season, but the Bernabeu doesn't need to worry because, according to Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo is "from a different galaxy".
