Marc Bartra's future at Borussia Dortmund is very much up in the air following the German side's acquisition of Manuel Akanji form Swiss side Basel earlier this week.
The purchase of a new defender, combined with Bartra's slide down the pecking order in recent times seems to suggest the Spanish international could be set for to leave Dortmund sooner rather than later.
According to German publication 'SportBild', the current situation has led the Spaniard to eye up a return to his homeland, with the 27-year-old already possessing La Liga experience from his time with Barca.
Spain manager Julen Lopetegui is a big fan of the Catalan defender and knowing that 2018 is a World Cup year, Bartra is thought to be keen on securing regular football to ensure a place in Spain's squad for Russia.
Whilst the talk in Germany is that the player looks set for the exit door, it remains to be seen where exactly his next destination will be.
