Real Madrid supporters have become accustomed to seeing Ronaldo score his first La Liga goal in the opening weeks of the campaign. However, this year it has not been quite so easy for the Portuguese striker who has netted his first goal at the Bernabeu in the last week of November.
A devastating statistic that proves the striker's goal drought is more serious than anticipated initially. As reported by 'Goal', the precedent set in the 2014/15 season, which until now had been his hardest start in La Liga, is not as bad as his record in the current season. Back in 2014, he scored his first home goal on 17 October, while the previous season he had done so in August.
We have had to endure a long wait to finally see Ronaldo wheeling away in celebration in front of his own crowd. It was nothing special, the striker tapped in the rebound after Malaga keeper Roberto denied his initial effort from the spot.
Ronaldo is finally off the mark at the Bernabeu and he will hope he can build on the goal so that many more follow. Knowing the Portuguese ace, he will remain convinced of his option to end the season by claiming the Golden Shoe.
