According to reports in the 'Daily Mail', the London club has begun informal discussions with their England international by offering to double his current wages if he signs a contract extension.
Currently, the midfielder earns in the region of £50,000-a-week but Spurs are prepared to increase this to £100,000 as they look to end mounting speculation about his future.
The 21-year-old, who joined the club in January 2015, signed his current deal only 18 months ago. Although it doesn't run out till 2022, the top four contenders privately accept that he should be earning significantly more, especially given his prominent position in the squad, both domestically and internationally for the 'Three Lions'.
Tottenham reportedly believe that both parties are keen to agree an extension, particularly after the club's impressive performances in the Champions League this season. After parting ways with his previous advisor, Rob Segal, the negotiations will be led by his best friend Harry Hickford.
News of a potential new deal will boost morale for Mauricio Pochettino's team, who are looking to push for a top four finish with the squad three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
