When Buffon announced that he would be stepping down from Juventus at the end of this season, it was to be expected that we would see widespread interest from teams keen on signing the 40-year-old.
The Italian admitted that he would consider a move to a new club when he announced his departure from Juve, but he said that it would have to be a top club.
This ambition, combined with the fact that Buffon would undoubtedly command incredibly high wages, mean that there aren't many viable options for the veteran. One of the few teams that could accomodate Buffon is PSG, and the French champions have apparently taken advantage of their position and made him a contract offer.
According to 'Goal', PSG have proposed a contract of €8m per year to the Italian, which would double his current Juve wage. Although there have been rumours of interest from teams like Liverpool and Manchester City, this is the first reported bid for the player, and the 40-year-old could do a lot worse than the Ligue 1 champions.
