After weeks of waiting, PSG fans received the official announcement they'd been hoping for. On Monday, PSG confirmed the appointment of Thomas Tuchel on their Twitter page. The German manager has signed a two-year contract with the seven-time champions of France.
Tuchel will take the reins from Unai Emery who was named 'Manager of the Year' at the UNFP awards On Sunday night. Despite claiming an impressive domestic triple, PSG's early exit to Real Madrid in the last-16 was the kiss of death for the Spaniard.
The club released a statement outlining Tuchel's abilities as "a lover of dynamic, attacking football and an accomplished tactician."
Tuchel himself, who has been out of work for over a year after leaving Dortmund, also commented on the new adventure ahead of him: "It is with great joy, pride and ambition that I join the great football club that is Paris Saint-Germain.
"I look forward to working with all these great players, who are among the best on the planet. With my staff, we will do everything to help the team succeed at the highest international level."
"There is extraordinary potential in Paris and this is the most exciting challenge that has come to me. I am also looking forward to getting to know Parc des Princes, a legendary European football stadium with a fantastic atmosphere."

PSG president Nasser Al-Kelaifi, who is known for his ruthless attitude towards sacking managers, also commented on Tuchel's appointment: "Thomas is one of the best and most competitive European coaches to have emerged over the last few seasons,"
"He abides by very strong principles of playing spectacular and clinical football that has always been the foundation of German football, especially on the international scene."
"His competitive spirit, his preference for attacking football and his strong character are in line with what we have always wanted for Paris Saint-Germain."
