A Champions League clash between Chelsea and Barcelona appears to be on the horizon. One of the most repeated ties in recent times, it could take place again due to Chelsea's restricted pool of opponents.
Tottenham, Manchester United and City have already topped their respective groups and Liverpool will join them if they can overcome Spartak Moscow at Anfield. Barcelona, Besiktas or Paris Saint-Germain are Chelsea's potential rivals in the last 16. Roma is not an option after coming out of the same group as Conte's side.
This would give the reigning Premier League champions a 33.3 per cent chance of facing Barcelona, but the Catalans cannot be paired with Real Madrid or, at first glance, Sevilla. Their pool of opponents is also reduced: Barcelona could face Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Basel, Shakhtar/Napoli or RB Leipzig/Porto, giving the Spaniards a 43,314 per cent chance of travelling to Stamford Bridge in the next round.
Chelsea's odds of facing PSG and Besiktas are a lower 28.343 per cent.
