The Bavarian chief believes the Brazilian forward receives too much praise and, in a Christmas dinner with some of the German club's fans, he took advantage to take a swipe at the PSG man.
"I don't think he is that good," said Hoeness according to Spanish daily 'Marca', despite reported interest in the former Barcelona striker back in 2010.
He spoke about PSG's other big signing of the summer and the French club's transfer policy. "We cannot invest 222 million euros, not even 180 on Mbappe... whom I think is very good," Hoeness added.
Bayern Munich had the chance to swoop in for Neymar seven years ago, but they refused to pay the 24 million euros demanded by Brazilian side Santos.
Hoeness believes Mbappe is better than Neymar. Will time prove him right?
