According to reports in 'Marca' on Friday, the Manchester club will announce the signing of Sanchez in a direct swap for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the next few hours.
Reports also claim that the Portuguese manager has already decided that the 29-year-old will wear the no. 7 shirt when he arrives at Old Trafford, casting potential moves for Bale and Ronaldo aside.
This could put an end to speculation about the possible return of the Portugese forward to Manchester, as that was his number during his spell in England from 2003 to 2009.
Sanchez would join a United attack which already includes Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard, bolstering the side as they start their second phase of the season.
The 'Red Devils' are under pressure to get the deal over the line as quickly as possible so that the Chilean can boost squad numbers as the team approaches a busy period with fixtures in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League fast-approaching.
