Pep Guardiola's side inflicted a crushing 3-0 defeat on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final to secure their first silverware of the season thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva.
Although Kompany would be an unlikely bet to score for City, the skipper was confident of his chances going into the match.
Speaking to 'Sky Sports' after the match, the Belgian centre-back said: "I'm going to be honest. Before the game I thought I was going to score, I came close a few times in the game. It's just luck on the day, but maybe a bit of self-belief as well."
"You always have to be ready. I'm training well, I'm supporting the lads when I don't play, and I'm giving everything I have. You get a call-up and you just do the job."
Turning his attention to the match itself, Kompany declared: "It was a difficult game, but as much space as there was for Arsenal and ourselves, we did really well. I'm really proud of the team performance. Winning 3-0 at Wembley, it's a massive result against any opponent".
There will be no rest for City though as they have to immediately make up the Premier League match that they missed out on this weekend, which is ironically against Arsenal on Thursday night.
