The Netherlands displayed a double dominance, the first to claim the European title and be crowned champions, and the second for their superiority on penalties having progressed from the quarter-finals, semi-finals and won the final on penalties.
After a respectable first half, the second half saw a torrent of goals unleashed. Timber gave the Dutch an advantage with a shot from the right, provoking Italy into a counter-attack which resulted in an equaliser just three minutes later.
It was Ricci who drew the Italian side level with a beautiful goal, but not wanting to be outdone, Holland's Riccardi edged them ahead again to within touching distance of the title. However, just before the ten minute mark, Brobbey put the score at 2-2.
On penalties, the Dutch side made their superiority clear to clinch the U17 Euro trophy.
