According to reports in 'The Mirror', Guardiola wants to have Iniesta in his team once again, like he did between 2008 and 2012 at Barcelona, and has therefore opened the door for the Spaniard to join him at Manchester City.
Despite the fact that Iniesta signed a 'lifetime contract' with Barca in October, the midfielder could put an end to his long and illustrious career at the Catalan club in favour of a reunion with his old boss Guardiola. The Spain international is well versed in Guardiola's style of play, and could be tempted to move to England to experience a new league, after spending his whole senior career with Barcelona.
Iniesta is aware that time is not on his side, and the arrival of Philippe Coutinho has seemingly signalled the beginning of the end of the veteran's time as a starting player for Valverde. The club sees Coutinho as the Spaniard's replacement, and this means that the four-time Champions League winner could be on his way out of the club in summer.
The English media outlet has stated that Guardiola and Iniesta will meet in the next few days to discuss a potential reunion, a meeting during which Pep will explain his intentions, as well as outlining the role that the Spain international would play if he were to join the 'Citizens'.
