Eden Hazard converted a penalty in the first half to seal a 1-0 victory for Antonio Conte and his team-mates but was the Belgian playermaker our Man of the Match?
CHELSEA:
Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois - 7.5
Made countless saves to deny United in the second 45 minutes when Chelsea were really under the cosh. His stand-out? A quick block to deny Marcus Rashford when the forward was one-on-one.
Defender: Cesar Azpilicueta - 6.5
Controlled the back brilliantly in a commanding defensive performance, making a couple of important blocks too.
Defender: Antonio Rudiger - 6.5
Another clog of that important dogged defence, Rudiger looked assured when needed and helped to close the game out in that tense second half.
Defender: Gary Cahill - 7
The England international showed Gareth Southgate why he was right to include him in his World Cup squad, comfortably dealing with all of United's attacking threats.
Full-back: Victor Moses - 5.5
Struggled to make his mark offensively at Wembley and was a little clumsy defensively. Should've been booked for a couple of late fouls on Ashley Young.
Full-back: Marcos Alonso - 6
Apart from a one-on-one opportunity to double Chelsea's advantage, which resulted in a fairly tame effort, Alonso had little impact on the game.
Midfielder: N'Golo Kante - 7.5
Industrious as ever in that midfield. Dictated the tempo and was in the right place at the right time to stifle a lot of United's attacks.
Midfielder: Tiemoue Bakayoko - 5
Conte's risky choice didn't pay off as Bakayoko enjoyed another invisible display in a 'Blues' shirt, aided by the sturdy performances of his team-mates.
Midfielder: Cesc Fabregas - 6.5
A gusty display from the Spaniard, who knows what it takes to win a FA Cup after securing a medal with Arsenal in 2005. Was involved in the action at either end but his free-kicks were surprisingly poor.
Midfielder: Eden Hazard - 8.5
Another man-of-the-match display from the Belgian who was Chelsea's most creative outlet. He sealed his 300th appearance for the club by winning a penalty with his pace and trickery before showing off his finishing by coolly sending David De Gea the wrong way.
Forward: Olivier Giroud - 7
Was a physical menace in that United box, linking up well with Hazard to give them relief during the second-half onslaught from their opposition.
Subs: Alvaro Morata (89') and Willian (90').

MANCHESTER UNITED:
Goalkeeper: David De Gea - 6.5
Dived the wrong way for Hazard's penalty but apart from that he showed his worth between the sticks when called upon.
Defender: Antonio Valencia - 5
Booked for a needless foul on Hazard and was constantly on the back foot for the whole game, failing to offer anything offensively.
Defender: Chris Smalling - 7
Dealt with the aerial threat of Giroud well and made a couple of important interventions. Solid display.
Defender: Phil Jones - 4
Was an afternoon to forget for the England international. Not only did he bring down Hazard for the penalty but he also missed a great chance to equalise when he fired his header wide of the target.
Defender: Ashley Young - 5.5
Could've gifted Chelsea a second penalty if Michael Oliver had referred his handball up to VAR but at least he provided some attacking outlet.
Midfielder: Ander Herrera - 5
Chosen over Juan Mata but did little to warrant his selection, posting a rather anonymous performance.
Midfielder: Nemanja Matic - 7
Bar Smalling, Matic was United's stand-out player at Wembley. The former Chelsea midfielder wasn't afraid to do the dirty work and forced a great save from Courtois with another venemous strike.
Midfielder: Paul Pogba - 4.5
Was free-on-goal in the box to head home a corner but missed the target. Summed up his disappointing display.
Forward: Jesse Lingard - 5
Couldn't break down the dogged Chelsea backline before being replaced by Martial in the second half.
Forward: Alexis Sanchez - 5.5
Kept trying to make something happen, showing glimpses of quality, but was very sloppy in possession (again).
Forward: Marcus Rashford - 5.5
Just like Lingard, Rashford struggled to break Chelsea's shackles. He did manage to go one-on-one with Courtois though, but fired his shot straight at the keeper.
Subs: Romelu Lukaku (73') - 4.5, Anthony Martial (73') - 5, Juan Mata (87').
