"We have received a report from Atletico Madrid about the Griezmann case," a FIFA spokesperson told said agency, thus confirming the news which surfaced on Tuesday about Atletico filing a complaint with the governing body of world football.
The mentioned approaches to lure Griezmann into a move away from the Spanish capital may prove costly for the Camp Nou outfit. As reported by 'COPE', the sanction could see them serve a two-window transfer ban.
Atletico chief Enrique Cerezo spoke about the controversy, while clearly stating the club will exercise its rights. "It's a matter of respect," he said.
It all kicked off when Barcelona director Guillermo Amor failed to deny the Catalans had made contact with the France international. Now, they may be made to pay for such rash and impulsive comments.
"If Bartomeu met with Griezmann's family as the newspapers say, then there may well have been an approach," Amor said. On the other hand, Barcelona have denied having approached Griezmann.
