The Brazilian's future is becoming murkier each day as speculation continues to mount about a move away from Paris Saint-Germain and the Parc des Princes, despite only moving there in the summer for €222 million.
PSG have said relentlessly that their talisman won't be leaving when the transfer window opens at the end of the season, with president Nasser Al-Khelaifi even rumoured to have flown to Brazil to convince Neymar to stay in Paris.
However, numerous outlets have alleged that the 26-year-old is unhappy there, especially after their European humiliation to Real Madrid last week, and will look to return to Spain either with 'Los Blancos' or his former club Barcelona.
Ivan Rakitic, speaking after his side's 2-0 win over Malaga, opened the door for the Brazil international's return to the Camp Nou, although the fans have already expressed that they don't want the forward back in their set-up.
Instead, it appears that Madrid would be the likelier option with Florentino Perez looking to bolster the squad in the summer amid concerns over a struggling Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

Neymar is currently recovering from a fractured metatarsal, which saw him miss that important second leg in the Champions League, and faces a race against time to return for the end of the season with PSG and for the World Cup with Brazil.
Arguably his priority is with his home country, and with all the speculation surrounding his future, who knows if he has already played his last minutes for the Parisian club.
It seems as if a move to the Bernabeu could be edging further closer than we think. If rumours of an alleged meeting with Neymar's father are indeed true, it would be difficult for PSG to counter what Madrid could offer the forward, given the uncompetitiveness of Ligue 1 and their struggles in Europe.
The 26-year-old left Barcelona because he wanted to step out of Lionel Messi's shadow and win the Champions League. It looks like only one of those can be achieved in France.
Although Real have Cristiano Ronaldo, at 33 he won't be able to maintain his incredible form for much longer and there will need to be a changing of the guard which Neymar could fill beautifully if the two can manage to play together in the mean time.
This potential transfer is undoubtedly set to intensify further as we approach the final few months of the season.
