The former Ajax man picked up his latest problem in the 3-2 victory over Spal at the weekend and went under the knife on Monday in a bid to solve the issue.
A Napoli statement said that it is not 'an isolated injury but a complex one,' but that 'the surgery was perfectly successful.'
The Italian side also confirmed that the recovery time would be 'similar to that of his previous injury.'
The 23-year-old has scored two goals in five games in all competitions for the Naples-based side so far this season and his injury will coms as a blow to Maurizio Sarri's side as they look to launch a genuine Serie A title challenge this seaosn.
