The English publication states that the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss has only spent less than £50m in a season once in his nine-year managerial career; during the 2014-15 season when he spent £44.5m with Bayern Munich.
The Spaniard has gained a reputation for spending plenty of money but his spell at City has proved the costliest so far.
Between 2008 and 2012 the 46-year-old spent £289.5m when in charge of Barca, between 2013 and 2016 with Bayern that figure dropped to £175.65m and in a little over a year with City he has splurged £400.4m on new players.
Interestingly that puts Guardiola's average spend per season at £91.2m, £20m more than rival Jose Mourinho, who is often accused of splashing the cash.
Guardiola's purchase of Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains his biggest signing, with the Swede costing £59m, though if reports linking City with a late move for Monaco's Kylian Mbappe are to be believed that figure could double this summer.
With City still considering several major moves in the transfer market this summer it is conceivable that 'Pep' could accrue £1bn in transfer spending in the coming days and weeks.
