Coutinho has his heart set on a move to the Nou Camp and his desire to join Ernesto Valverde's side has lead to a clash with Liverpool, despite initially respecting his club's approach to the potential transfer.
The Brazilian handed in a transfer request after Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), released a statement on Friday morning that seemed to confirm he would be staying at Anfiled this summer.
Balague has given his updates on the transfer saga, saying, "Coutinho has tried to make Liverpool understand that his dream is to play for Barcelona. He has been a Barcelona fan for a while, has become really good friends with Luis Suarez and he wants to move to the Camp Nou."
"He has behaved very well, professionally, something admitted by the club itself, but something happened today that pushed him over the edge."
“The disappointment of the Liverpool stand was so big that he reacted to it in the strongest way possible allowed to a player. He now “would do whatever it takes” to make the move possible."
