With Palace losing 1-0 to Southampton with just 12 minutes to go on Saturday in Roy Hodgson's first game in charge of the 'Eagles', the former England boss turned to the Malian international and his introduction certainly got people talking, if not exactly for his performance.
The former Wolves man was unable to help his team overturn their deficit, but his personalized boots certainly caught the eye.
The player was wearing Nike Mercurials that had been personalized with cartoons from the TV and video game series Dragon Ball. An image of the boots quickly went viral and it emerged that the 29-year-old owns a variety of personalized Mercurials.
